Gas Leak
Which gas leak detector is compatible with the Alarm?
The Glaciär Midi detectors are directly connected to the APE1 and APE2 Alarm for audible and visible alerts in alarm and pre-alarm conditions through the RS485 connection of SAMON's GLACIÄR detectors validated for their quality and communication. It is possible to make other operations from plc or other Samon detector models through the digital input. For this function or others, please refer to the manual.
How is the GAS detector connected?
If you have the Glaciär Midi detector, you must follow these steps:
1) Have in your cell phone the Glaciär detector app of Samon, Password Glaciar Midi 2222, go to the Modbus Setup section and configure Modbus Address 1, Baud Rate 9600, Parity and stop Bits No parity,Stop bits 2.
2) Wire the Gas detector to the electronic circuit of the alarm by connecting the RS485 terminals between the Detector and the Alarm with 3 wires (electric cable type rs485 with 3 wires). See connection diagram in the alarm manual in the section Gas Detector/ or videos in tutorials.
Can I have the gas detector together with the equipment?
Glaciär Midi detectors with remote sensor or on-board sensor can be either adjacent to an alarm or remote. The maximum distance between detector and alarm is 300 mts or 800 mts if the detector is powered externally.
How many gas detectors can I connect?
In the APE-1 and APE-2 models connected by rs485 you can communicate with 1 detector (from September up to a maximum of 3). If the connection is using the relays of the detector and the digital input of the alarm we can connect up to 5 detectors. This connection is made by electrically connecting the relays in parallel.
Push Buttons and Chambers
I have a chamber with several doors. How many pushbuttons should I put?
If the chamber has 2 doors or more you must place a push button on each door and wire between them to the alarm control panel with the 3-wire connection (see 3-wire push button diagram in the manual) if the push button has an electronic board inside you should not use it because it is only suitable for chambers with 1 door. The pushbuttons purchased as accessories for this application are already prepared for 3 wires (without board). See wiring diagram for 3-wire connection in the manual.
How many cold chambers can an APE Alarm put into regulation?

In freezing chambers 1 single alarm per chamber, model APE2BXL..with battery. If the chamber is refrigerated it is possible to use the same model for 2 positive chambers allocating 1 circuit for each chamber. In refrigerated chambers it is not obligatory to use the battery but you can use it. We also have models for refrigerated chambers of 1 single circuit, these models are designed for 1 single chamber APE-0, APE-1, APE-1XL....etc.
(In other European countries), look at the laws regarding the obligation of the alarm and its characteristics.
For positive chambers, it is required to install 1 circuit, and for negative chambers, it should have a battery backup."
Can I connect 2 Pushbuttons to the same Alarm?
The pushbuttons are connected to the circuit of the APE control unit. The models with 1 circuit are for a cold room with one or more doors and you can connect and power the lighting of the pushbuttons up to a maximum of 3 pushbuttons with the 3-wire connection maneuver (see manual). The 2-circuit models in Spain are validated for freezing chambers where one circuit is used with battery and one without redundant, this equipment with 2 circuits APE2BXL and APE2XL can also be used with and without battery for the Alarm of 2 positive Chambers and will be able to Detect the Gas Leakage together with the detector/s Glaciär Midi.
Is the Osaka push button compatible with an alarm from another manufacturer?
Osaka has the code: PUSHBUTTON APE-E with this code the push-button has internal electronics compatible with the ako alarm. We have the PUSHBUTTON APE, with this code the pushbutton is without plate and has 2 NC contacts, compatible with almost all manufacturers Eliwell, Carel ... and other alarm solutions where they use Siemens pushbuttons or other electrical market.
Clarifications of the configuration
Use of 2- or 3-wire pushbutton connection
The push button can be equipped with an internal electronics that allows a 2-wire connection with the control panel for installations with only one push button per alarm. The use of the internal electronics of the pushbutton is optional and can also be installed without the internal electronics of the 3-wire pushbutton. The 3-wire connection is suitable for 1 ...3 push buttons per circuit. The 2-wire connection cannot be made for more than 1 pushbutton per circuit. Configuration by micro-switches
There are 8 micro switches inside. They have On or OFF position. According to the functions that we want we must activate in On . From 1 to 4 are hardware functions, the 1st is used in On to configure that we will use the 2-wire wiring and Off the 3-wire wiring in the push button. The 2nd microswitch is used to activate that the circuit is connected to battery. The 3rd microswitch is the configuration of the relay of the alarm circuit, On position will activate relay when there is alarm situation. In OFF position the relay is already active and changes its state when it is in alarm situation (reverse logic). The 4th is the configuration of the digital input, if it is on On closing the contact activates its function and vice versa. From 5... 8 are internal functions you should see the functions of activating gas leakage monitoring and 360 monitoring in the manual section "Documents".
Parameter configuration from PC
There is a software and a key accessory to connect the APE1,2 circuit to the pc. You will be able to interact with the equipment by changing parameters.

There is a regulation published in the BOE of 2019, provision 15228 point 4.c. If refrigerated products are not hermetically packed in the cold storage chamber, they will also have an easily readable and calibrated hygrometer.
It has the Trapped Person Alarm plus humidity measurement with the APE1-XL+H unit and with the APE-1XL+H+24 unit including the Humidity meter.

Regulation
Is the alarm approved?
Yes, the APE-1 and APE-2 models comply with CE, electromagnetic and electronic regulations. The functions required by the RSIF safety regulations for refrigeration installations. In cold room installations of positive temperature between 0..+5ºC we have the APE-1x models and it is not obliged that the equipment has battery, if it is of negative temperature from 0 degrees if it obliges, the APE-2BXL has battery of duration of 10 H.
What are the laws and regulations that make it mandatory to have the alarm?

Chambers conditioned to operate at sub-zero temperature or with artificial atmosphere.
Inside the chambers conditioned to operate at sub-zero temperature or with artificial atmosphere, two call devices (bell, siren or telephone), one of them connected to an autonomous source of energy (e.g. accumulator battery with an alarm operating capacity of the device of 10 hours, which shall be connected to an automatic charging device connected to the general supply), shall be placed next to the door and at a height not exceeding 1.25 meters, such devices shall be lighted with a pilot lamp and in a way that prevents the formation of ice on it. This pilot lamp will be always on and will be automatically connected to the emergency lighting network, in case of lack of fluid from the general network. In normal atmosphere chambers working at temperatures of 0ºC or above and up to +5ºC, it will be sufficient to mount a single call device (bell, siren or telephone). RS485 data communication
Can I read from a SCADA the alarm variables?
Yes, via rs485. We have a help document called communication protocol, in the "DOCUMENTS" section. The APE 1, APE-2 has 2 outputs for rs485 use, one direct and one via TTL-RS485 accessory. The direct output can be used for the connection of GLACIÄR gas detectors or for supervision systems or plc. The secondary output can be used with the TTL-RS485 accessory and could be used as a second rs485 output to a plc or scada.
How can I use the rs485 and read data?
The APE 1, APE-2BXL have 2 outputs for rs485 use, a direct main output and a secondary output via TTL-RS485 accessory. The direct output can be used for the connection of gas detectors GLACIAR, DGD, or for supervision systems or plc. The secondary output can be used with the TTL-RS485 accessory also this allows to connect a Glaciär detector and to have rs485 for another purpose. For SURVEILLANCE360 accessories..etc.
